Reservations
Can I modify my reservation?
Yes, you will be able to make changes to your reservation via your confirmation email. We'll do our best to accommodate changes, subject to availability.
Can I request a specific table or seating area?
While we can't guarantee specific tables, please let us know your preferences when making a reservation and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Do you take walk-ins?
We accept walk-ins based on availability, but reservations are strongly recommended, especially for dinner and weekends.
Why do you need my credit card for to make a booking and what is your cancellation policy?
Credit card details are required to place all reservations, and no deposit is processed on your card. Should you need to reduce the number of guests or cancel your booking, we require at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee of $50pp + a 2.95% payment processing fee.
Can we come just for drinks?
Yes, our bar area is available for drinks and we are open for Happy Hour. Walk-ins are welcome subject to availability.
Dining with Us
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Chancery Lane can cater for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, lactose free as well as other allergies & intolerances. We can cater to halal guests and cannot cater for kosher guests internally. We are a nut free venue.
While Chancery Lane will endeavour to accommodate requests for meals for guests with food allergies or intolerances; we cannot guarantee completely allergy-free meals due to the potential of trace allergens in the working environment and supplied ingredients.
Please notify us of any dietary requirements and allergies when making your reservation.
Can I bring my own birthday cake?
Please make note at the time of booking if you plan to bring in a birthday cake for your special occasion. A $5 per person cakeage fee is applicable.
Is the restaurant wheelchair accessible?
There is disability access via ramp, on request. Otherwise, our entrance via New Chancery Lane has one small step that may be suitable for most manual wheelchairs. Please make note at time of booking if you feel you may need assistance.
Can I bring children to the restaurant?
Yes, children are welcome and a limited kid’s menu is available. Highchairs are also available on request at time of booking.
Is there parking nearby?
There are several carparks nearby including the RACV Car Park directly across from venue. Limited street parking is also available on Little Collins Street.
How do I get here via public transport?
The closest tram stops are Stop 4: Queen St & Bourke St on Routes 86 & 96 and Stop 3: William St & Collins St on Routes 11,12,48 & 109.
Private Events
What's the minimum spend for private dining?
Minimum spend varies by room, day, and time. Please contact our events team via the enquiry form here for current pricing and packages.
Do you have AV?
We do have AV available on site at Chancery Lane. This is inclusive of a 55" LED TV Screen mounted on a 2 metre stand and HDMI cord. Our team will set up the AV, the charge is $500 which is not included in minimum spend costs. We also have 2 x handheld microphones with speaker available for $100 rental. Alternatively, you are welcome to source your own AV from an external supplier and provide suitable bump in and out times on approval from our team. For any AV requirements, you will need to book the Archways & Cellar Room privately.
Can I bring my own decorations?
If you wish to organise decorations for your event, we will be happy to obtain a quote from our preferred florist, or you can organise your own theming and decorations.
The request for any additional theming or decorations must be submitted in writing to your events manager for approval at least 7 days prior to the event and is only permitted in our private dining areas. Please note we do not allow use of glitter or confetti in any of our spaces.
Flash photography in the main dining room is not permitted.
Payments
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Gift vouchers are available to purchase here, and are valid to use at Longrain Melbourne, Matilda 159 Domain, Estelle, Chancery Lane and Smith St Bistrot for 36 months from the date of purchase. These gift vouchers are non-refundable, cannot be redeemed for cash, or replaced if lost or stolen.
Please note that gift vouchers may take up to 24 hours to be valid and may not be redeemable immediately after purchase.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards. Cash is also accepted.
Is there a surcharge on weekends or public holidays?
A 15% surcharge is applied to all purchases on Public Holidays
